Cemetery Design and the Landscape Lawn Concept

Joseph Earnshaw (1831-1906) was a prominent Cincinnati surveyor, civil engineer, and landscape engineer who worked longside Adolph Strauch on the development of Spring Grove Cemetery starting in 1857. Together they brought the “landscape lawn” concept to Spring Grove’s grounds.

MSP's Connection to the Titanic

MSP's long history is of special interest as we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic on April 15, 2012. In 1896, Earnshaw & Punshon were hired to survey and design Fairview Cemetery in Halifax, Nova Scotia, which was documented in the February 28, 1896 issue of The Halifax Herald. Fairview Cemetery would become the final resting place for the majority of recovered victims of the disaster in 1912. Our connection to the Titanic was also mentioned on the front page of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

MSP's work with the school began several years ago, when the school hired MSP to develop a Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan which involved all of the school's buildings and sites, as well as possible expansion projects.

(MSP) and Duke Realty arrived at the DBIA (Design-Build Institute of America) Ohio Valley Region’s awardsbanquet on October 28th in Covington, KY, they knew that their project was winning the DBIA award for ‘Private Sector Building over $15 million.’ However, they were excited to discover that their project, the North Pointe at Union Centre offices for GE Aviation in West Chester, Ohio, was also awarded the ‘Distinguished Design-Build Award,’ a special honor designated to projects who break new ground in the Design-Build industry.
